Ventura to venture on without Carrey?

(KP International) Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. That being said, rumour has it there's talks of a third Ace Ventura film in the works; this time, sans the star, Jim Carrey.
Weren't people paying attention when Son of the Mask, the sequel to The Mask starring Jamie Kennedy (not a satisfying substitute for Carrey), disappointed at the box office taking in a measly US$17 million in comparison to the US$119 million the original made? And as if Dumb and Dumber, which raked in US$127 million, needed Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (which also didn't have a Carrey in sight), earning a fraction of the first with only US$26 million.
Alrighty then, why are there thoughts of subjecting audiences to yet another Carrey-less sequel to a Carrey film?
